Stand Up Paddleboards are a great activity for water sport enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels. Our fleet of stable and buoyant boards make learning to paddle easy, quick, and fun!
The sport is an ancient form of surfing with its roots in ancient Polynesia. The modern sport became popular when surf instructors stood on their boards in order to manage groups of novice surfers. The increase in visibility allowed them to see everything around them – such as incoming swells.
On our side of the ocean, we’ve been paddling around the bay on our windsurfing boards for many years. Using a one piece mast to push off at low tide, we appeared more like gondoliers than surfers.
Advances in equipment allow paddlers to enjoy open, flat water as well as waves. The angle of visibility offered by a SUP adds to the enjoyment while providing a workout. The new paddles and boards are designed to create fantastic forward motion while maintaining rail-to-rail control in waves and swells.
Begin with a 12′ 6′ to 12′ long board to build confidence. As you are ready for the challenge, move onto a narrower board. By the time you are comfortable with an 11′ board, it is time to move to the ocean side and practice on the small waves. After that, it’s all up to you.
The majority of our SUP fleet includes an insert where a sail can be attached making it a multi-use hull allowing for Longboard Cruising at its best. Come out and give it a try!

Hello.
Might I ask you if your opening hours apply even for SUP’s? I would be interested to do it tomorrow with a friend since I’m leaving Miami in the evening…

Hi
Can kayaks and paddle boarders be together or do they have to go differeent ways?
November 12, 2011 at 3:40 PM
Combining the two is fine and then you can trade off. The routes we recommend (to Vizcaya, Mangrove Estuary, Sandbar, circling Hobie Beach Island Park) are the same for both kayaks and paddle boards. Enjoy!

By any chance do you rent inflatable paddle boards?
February 8, 2012 at 2:20 PM
Hi Wendy, Our recreational boards range from 9’9″ to 12′ and are JP “full wood sandwich” non-inflatable. I have yet to hear of anyone renting inflatables–only retail sales. Good luck to you.
