You’ve finished the two hour course, now what?
|
Practice, practice, practice! We’ll move you down to a 180 liter board and move you up a sail size to 4.0 or 4.7. Continue working on your sailing and tacking. Try moving your feet further back on the board and moving your hands onto the boom. Remember your arms work independently of one-another–keep your mast up straight while you use your back hand to open and close the sail as needed to capture the wind.

North, South, East, or West, What Difference Does the Wind Direction Make?
|
Situated on the South side of the Causeway, we enjoy the prevailing Southeast winds that Miami has to offer. Southeast winds means that the wind comes “side shore” making easy access for windsurfing and kayaking launches (and returns!) from and to our site. When the wind shifts and comes from the North it becomes an “offshore wind” meaning the wind is pushing you away from us.. If the wind is pure North, we cannot offer windsurfing rentals (but kayaks are no problem). However, if the wind is Northeast (side offshore), experienced sailors are able to launch but must be especially attentive to staying upwind.
Any other direction or combination of direction are usually “sailable.” Always remember to pay attention to the possibility of shifting wind direction, especially during the Summer as storms work their way past us. |
