I Have 2 Hours Experience--Now What?
|
Congratulations on finishing your first two hours on the water! Now that you have sea legs, it's time to enjoy the sea breeze! When you return to rent, you want to work on: (1) moving your feet further back on the board--this will give you more room for holding the sail upright and allow you to manipulate the fin more with pressure from your feet; (2) begin to place both hands on the boom--but remember, your arms work independently of one another. Your front arm is in charge of direction, the back arm determines your speed. Beach Start vs Uphauling
|
If you’re tired of uphauling, it’s time to learn to Beach Start. The Beach Start allows you to experience taking off from the shoreline by stepping on to the board with the boom in hand vs pulling up the sail. It is a precursor to learning how to water start (a water start is in deep water; a beach start is in shallow water). If you’re ready to give it a try, just let our staff know and we’ll give you an overview next time you rent equipment.
